Key points

  • NAD+ is a central coenzyme that shuttles electrons in cellular metabolism.
  • Its biochemistry is well established; that is a statement about the molecule, not about any product.
  • This page makes no therapy, outcome or dosing claims.

What it is

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in all living cells, weighing about 663 daltons. It works as a pair with its reduced form, NADH, carrying electrons between reactions.

How researchers study it

It is studied in cellular energy metabolism, in redox balance, and in the family of enzymes called sirtuins, which use NAD+ as a fuel. It also appears frequently in aging-model research.

What the evidence shows

The basic biochemistry of NAD+ is textbook material. Be careful with the next step, though: knowing what a molecule does inside cells is not the same as showing that a particular product has any effect. This page does not make that jump.

Regulatory and research-use note

This is an educational article about a coenzyme. SwiftAmino materials are for laboratory research only, and nothing here is a drug claim or guidance on how to use anything.
