Epithalon (Epitalon): A Cautious Look at an Aging-Research Tetrapeptide
Tap to zoom
Key points
- A synthetic tetrapeptide with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly (AEDG).
- Human data are older studies from one research group and have not been independently replicated.
- Not FDA-approved; no outcome claims are made here.
What it is
Epithalon, also spelled Epitalon, is a synthetic peptide of just four amino acids, about 390 daltons. It is associated historically with research on pineal-gland peptides.
How researchers study it
Papers discuss it in the context of cellular aging, senescence and telomere-related themes. Those readouts depend heavily on the model used and are debated in the field.
What the evidence shows
The human studies are few, older, and come from a single research group. They have not been independently replicated, which is a basic requirement for confidence in any finding. This guide makes no anti-aging or longevity claims.
Regulatory status
Epithalon is not FDA-approved for any use. In July 2026 an FDA advisory panel gave a favorable, non-binding vote on a compounding question; it is not yet in effect.
